Winston was a Rock Star
Winston loved blueberries, chocolate and beer - and me...that makes him the coolest Rock Star Bunny ever.
On January 18th, Winston got his angel wings and is now the coolest Rock Star up in heaven. He was 6 years old.
Winston is now buried in a beautiful container with two dwarf blueberry bushes. Looks like we'll have blueberries as early as this year!

The Top Five Reasons Winston is the Coolest Bunny
and best Rock Star
- He sleeps underneath my desk while I work & nudges my toes when he thinks it's time for bed
- He has a 4 foot vertical leap!
- He wakes me up in the morning if I don't get the blueberries fast enough
- He will do anything for chocolate including run you over
- He talks
In Winston's honor
For the outpouring of 'how can I help?' that I am receiving - thank you so much. I am directing people to http://www.rabbithaven.org/index.htm if you would like to make a donation in Winston's name.
Metamorphosis
from Rhonda of FastbackStack
A caterpillar asked God, "What happens when I die?"
God replied, "Have you seen the butterfly?"
The Caterpillar, "Yes, do I have to die to become one?"
God said, "No, not really. A part of you dies, but another, stronger part
of you continues to live - it just changes forms."

My Winston World
Winston came into my world almost 6 years ago. His original name was Churchill - but when I got him home I realized he was not a Churchill, but rather a Winston.
Although rabbits don't talk, he did. The first night I brought him home he started making these chirping noises. Upon checking with his breeder, the vet and a few websites, this wasn't common. But Winston always was a gifted bunny. Whenever his favorite friends would come over, Mary and Tracy and Jimmy, he would just chatter away with them - especially if he wanted to con them out of more blueberries than he was supposed to get.

Rainbow Bridge
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

- Dearest Janelle,
Though you've not yet met many of us, we seem to be a special family who will always be here for you and for eachother.
We too lost a beloved pet - I know I've discussed this with you Janelle, but to share with others here, we had a Sheltie that 3 years ago we nursed through cancer treatments. He was given about 10 months, but he, being the gentleman he was, gave us three years. We miss him desperately each and every day.
Our prayers and thoughts are very strongly with you and all other friends here who have lost a pet.
Love and blessings to you,
Jennifer

- As long as you carry Winston in your heart, he'll be with you in spirit.
I'm sure he's watching over you from bunny heaven where blueberries and chocolate abound. And I know he's very honored that you created this lens just for him.
You and Winston shared a special bond. Take comfort knowing that you were his best friend, that he adored you and that he is watching over you in spirit.
He was your blessing and you are his.

- Dear Janelle,
My condolences on losing a member of your family. Yes, pets very much ARE members of the family.
As a Unitarian Universalist hospital chaplain I have encountered a lot of death and dying, and the subsequent grief. I can always tell how much someone was loved, and will be missed, by the depth of the grief felt by those left behind. The same holds true for pets.
In my religion there is a quote often used at memorial services which I offer to you: "To live in the hearts of those who love you is to never die."
Thanks for sharing your memories of Winston with all of us. So long as we continue to carry these memories, Winston will never be truly gone.
With love,
Lee

- Dear Janelle,
Many of us can clearly understand and empathize with your loss of a dear friend like your bunny, Winston, since pets truly do become members of our families. I can remember each and every pet I have ever had since my "early years"! I also remember the empty place in my heart when they were no longer there. I learned early on that no new pet can ever replace the "place of another" and that each pet leaves us with memories in our hearts that we never forget. Love the lens you made to remember Winston's special place in your life!

- Janelle,
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I know how much he meant to you, I see it every day between Dawn and Miss Kitty.
Miss Kitty sends "love smudges" and "biscuits" to make you feel better. She will miss her online buddy.
Here's to the Coolest.Bunny.Ever from the Prettiest.Kitty.Ever and her daddy.

- Janelle,
I am just so sorry for your loss. I am an animal lover myself and know the depths of love they can inspire. In fact, I went through a horribly rough time almost 3 years ago; had to pick up and move to somewhere I thought was God-forsaken but I just knew no matter what it cost in apartment fees for pets, my black cat, KC, had to come with me. Pets are really family, aren't they?
I'm glad you made this lens in memory of Winston (and I believe he would think it perfect!) and shared it with us. It is amazing what a comfort it gives just to see our loved one remembered.
Please know I will be praying for you.
Love,
Mimi

- Janelle, this is a nice tribute to your best little bunny. It nice to see how blessed this little critter was to have a friend like you! Wow, four feet vertical that must have been something to see.

- Janelle,
Much love, many hugs and heart-felt condolences.
Pets bring such a magical quality to our busy, overworked, hectic and stressful lives. They are a calming factor and of course, love us unconditionally, no matter what!
As "parents" dedicated to our wonderful Golden Retriever, Logan, can SO identify with the hole that is left in your heart. Hopefully it will become less painful in time.
Thank you for sharing Winston's life with us and savor each blueberry!
Jim & Barbara
p.s. Logan heard me shedding a few tears as I am typing this and he has come into the den to see what is the matter with his mom! He is so intuned to our feelings. (Barbara)

- Precious friend, losing a special pet like Winston is so hard. I lost my sweet kitty Gus just a year ago and I still miss him.
Winston really was a Super Special Rock Star, a four foot vertical leap - He was the Michael Jordan of the Bunny World! He could talk - WOW! I'll bet he also hung on your every word, like all of us other Rock Stars.
Be assured that I have you in my prayers and pray that Winston's memory will live on in your heart. Jesus said that He was preparing a special place for each one of us believers in Heaven, won't it be great to see Winston already there when you arrive! I'll bet he has a very special bed and all the bluberries and chocolate he can stuff in his little cheeks.
Love you, thanks so much for sharing Winston with us!

- Dear Janelle,
Thank you for posting such a sweet tribute to a friend.
A friend you can share chocolate a blueberries is a treasure indeed.
I lost a Persian cat this winter, so I know how you feel right now.
As an animal lover myself, I have found that sharing love for any animals helps me when I am away from my own, even when vacationing. Now is not the time for cheer, but when you're ready, I have photos of my alpacas at www.squidoo.com/alpacafiber. Their fuzzy faces always cheer me up.
I hope you will always have bunny hopping in your life.
I know you will always have Winston.
And great blueberries.
Melanie
